Hello everyone, :)

New to this forum, I'm an old guy (54) that started riding 3 years ago. Never had a chance to own/ride one of the classic KZ's. I finally found a 1979 KZ650SR with 37,000 miles on it that was worth purchasing. The bike is fairly complete but missing the turn signal lights and some other small stuff. It's not running right now as the tank has some rust that needs attention along with the front master brake cylinder then it should be ready for a test run. Looking forward to getting to know this forum and its members.

Welcome aboard; nice looking bike. I'm sure you'll love it once you get everything shipshape. BTW, at 54, you are not an old guy. Ed

I'm 52. Started riding last April after a 30 year hiatus. Sold my 74 CB750 in 79. Always wanted a KZ900. Now I have one. Feel like I'm 20 again.

Welcome to the KZR Nation there young feller. Great to have you here and great to have another KZ650 and in RED too... and in such good shape already.

Buckle in tightly as your are about to experence a sudden accelleration in knowledge, skills and confidence in all things that concern your KZ. You will get this machine to run equal to or better than factory output... just follow the trail that other members have blazed and you will be saving both time and money... and there never seems to be enough of either.

Best of success. :)
Bill

AZ, Welcome. Nice bike, I've always felt the CSR had the most attractive tank of the 650's.. PLEASE, do all you can to retain it's OE paint. If rust is moderate, Yamaha offers a "treatment" kit which in light rust situations, removes rust w/out need for coating. there are many opts, And you must be the judge, Whatever your' choice, a quality in-line filter, and Thorough carb clean is in order. wish you many happy miles.G
