New kz rider
22 Dec 2009 16:56
Hi, my name is Mika im 19, mechanical engineering student from montreal, quebec, canada. I have 2 KZ750's fours, one 1981 LTD for parts the i picked up very cheap(100$) but it wasnt licensed or anything and ran on 2 cylinders. The other one i got this summer as my first road bike, its a 1982 KZ750 spectre (driveshaft) its got 44,000 km on it and is in fairly good shape, i got it for 800$ which fit my low budget. Ive been riding motocross for several years but only have been riding street for one summer.
Since its winter now in the cold north, im gonna work on my bike to make it look good for next year, Im thinking of painting some yellow KZ's on the tank and painting the inside of the wheels yellow too. like a bumble bee haha well see how it looks..
anyways up to now i got motocross bars on it, had a kerker pipe on it too with 4-1 headers but i wanna change the seat and tail light cauz there both fat haha,
Heres a video of it, if any of you guys dont like to see these kind of vintage bikes ridden hard don't watch it.. :woohoo:
I dont always ride like this but sometimes its just too tempting, gotta love it. Ill try and postt some pictures up as soon as i start work on it, thanks.
Love the site by the way !

Great little video! I think most of the time our bikes are "adult" ridden but I'm sure we've all hammered them too. I hardly ever do burnouts as tires are expensive but I still do enjoy some redline excitement! Fun little bikes, huh?

Hi mduck, welcome to the KZR Nation. You are in the right place and it's great to have you here.
That's a fine machine you have there. In what area did the driving take place... South Shore, Laurentians Mountains, one of the islands???
Best of success,
Bill
PS
I like the stock way it looks now, less attention from the SQ/PD (police). But that's just my 2₵ worth.

I was actually riding near south of montreal near Ormstown, we have a place there so thats where i do most of my mechanics stuff but i go to school in montreal. I agree, the stock look is probly better to keep away my favorite SQ buddies... but well see i might try to change some stuff around and if it dosent look good ill bring it back to stock, i just like working on these things, feel weird when theres nothin to fix or do on them haha not that i need another project

Great sound!
If you hover the cursor over the "Members" tab up at the top, you'll see a tab for the "Gallery". You'll find a bunch of user bike photos and many will be modified. You might get some ideas there on how you want your's to look.
I would recommend lowering the headlight, bars, and gauges somehow. That always gives the LTD style bikes a more aggressive look.

Nice bike, and it looks like that MX experience has taught you how to ride. Just one minor nit to pick, you might consider a little more safety gear if you plan to continue riding on the street. Dirt don't hurt quite like that asphalt will when you dump it. Get a jacket and some boots that cover your ankles. Those bones on the side of your feet like to get polished off by the hwy dept's finest work. Don't let the pavement teach you about Heat Transfer before your professor does!
