New from Victoria BC
01 Sep 2009 16:55
Hi Everyone, look forward to enjoying the board. I'm in the process of restoring my 1984 KZ1100R. I bought it brand new in 1985 from Woodhouse Supplies in Parksville, (now defunct). Over the years I've installed a set of 33mm Mikuni smoothbores, Marzocchi Strada shocks, fork brace, 1170 Wiseco piston kit. I'm looking for someone nearby that is familiar with these bikes who would be competent to do some engine work, valves, tune the carbs, etc. I'd like to install the Earls 13 row oil cooler, where do I find one? What brackets and pieces are required to fit the cooler to the bike? I want to install the Supertrapp/Kerker header, does this ELR specific header fit the 1984 ELR? Mine is the 'Stardust Silver' colour and I plan on keeping it that way. I'll probably take it to Perfections here in Victoria for painting. I haven't ridden the bike for a few years and it is starting to look a little rough, the engine will need to be cleaned and painted as well. I'm open to any suggestions about anyone who could point me in the right direction for help. When I bought this bike I knew that it would be a 'keeper' so I want to fix it up right! Thanks, Glenn

Hi everyone, finished doing the restore on my 1984 KZ1100R. Put on the Kerker with the 1.5 inch baffle, Earl's plumbing, Kipkawa S-1 rearsets, Works Performance Racer shocks, S-1 style seatcover, rebuilt the front forks and painted all surfaces and went with the Kawi green. She's like new only better! Had some great help from Perfections Custom Paint, Alan at Kipkawa was spectacular, he really wants his customers happy and he'll do what it takes to make it happen. Best of all were the guys at Kenco Kawasaki in Sooke BC, Wayne and Ken knew what I wanted and made it all come together. Its been a lot of fun organizing the project and polishing up some of the bits that haven't been attended to since I bought the bike brand new! Hope you like the job!:woohoo:

I'm so tired I forgot to mention the guys at kz1000r.com who were amazingly helpful and supportive. As good as they come! A ton of knowledge at the ready to give a guy a hand!
