Hello
29 Apr 2009 15:17
Hello Everyone,
My name is Matthew. I am a Machinist from the northwest state of Oregon.
I have just started working on a KZ400 project. The bike was a free (get it out of here or its going for scrap!) bike. Lots of work to be done on it.
I am very excited to see a forum specific to the KZ bikes. Hello to you all, and I hope I can add to the fun of this Forum.

Welcome!
There are several of us members that are machinists on here.
You can't beat that price for a bike! What kind of work does it need? Pics would be nice:)

Re: Hello

I filled out the personal Info section.
The bike: 74-75 KZ400.
Needs done to it:
Everything. The bike is Stripped. I really need a new 400 engine. The one I have needs a rebuild bad. It sat outside for 7 years with no carbs on it. So the pistons are froze, Valve stems are rusted.
Picture: In Progress.
Plan: I started to pick up a few parts.
I have plans to make up a new swingarm. Change the front out for ZX6 (non inverted) shocks, and Machined Tree. I am only keeping the Gas tank, Kneck, Back bone, and Belly bars Stock. Everything else will be changed.
A new Seat frame and Rear Shock mounts will be designed, Welded and Machined.
I will be going with 00-08 ZX6 Rims.
The engine will be either rebuilt or replaced. With a few go fast mods.

I think I will pace myself on this project. I want a bike to ride, but this one will sit for a while.
I will buy a finished bike to enjoy while this one gets the detailed attention I want it to have.
I guess what you call the style I am looking at is Street Fighter?
I see ithe term beeing used on the most of the Knee dragger conversions.
