Hi Steptoe, great to have another fellow ozzy on line. I,m from Sydney and will be in vic for the World Superbikes in 2 weeks, about 2500km round trip on some of the best roads in oz.
One of the shops that specialise in cafe racers is Deus ex machina, check out there site www.google.com.au/aclk?sa=L&ai=BqEL7tLC0...ipEymFdMkKp2tVe2Hrag
Its a great shop to visit with some of the best examples of cafe bikes and acc, and a cafe for coffee and snacks

the year is 1982. its called a kawasaki z250a. i think the standed z250 was a 2 stroke, the a is a 4 stroke and 250e was a 4 cylinder (from reading on the net few weeks ago, maby im wrong)
the front tyre size is 90/90/18 51h and the rear is 110/80/18
the bike was listed on ebay, for $125. it was listed as a parts only, not running but mostly complete. it cost me $50 in petrol to get it. pushing it up the trailer ramp, the arse slid of the ramp and i dropped the bike, resulting in a broken indicator and cracked ducktail.
after a 2 hour drive home, it took me 10 mins to get it going.
i also thought it was a bit rair for a bike of that vintage to have both brakes disc
to get it to the riding stage, i had to buy a new clutch cable (witch the dealer swore was the right cable but it ended up 2 long), a blinker and a side cover. im yet to clean out the fuel tank, as its got heaps of gunk witch keeps blocking the filter
because of the cheap price, im not to fussed with witch mods i do

This bike had two "Cafe eqivalents. The EX250-c in 83-85 and the KR250-a in 84 & 85. You can look them up on the web and follow the lead, use as much of your personality as possible.
