Hello
12 Jun 2007 20:56
Hello! I'm Jules, and i just "inherited" a 1979 KZ650-D from my girlfriend's brother in law  (sounds more complicated than it should). I had to sell my Jeep when we moved to AZ from IL, so i didn't have transportation when i got here. After a few months of taking the bus, I finally got around to getting my motorcycle permit, so that i could ride the bike.
Sadly, I've only had one really good day of riding since i got it last week. Before i got the bike, it was sitting in a garage, but was started weekly, and the previous owner took good care of it. Unfortunately I've been having issues with a loss of power at low revs, and a pretty rough idle, which we're now trying to diagnose.
I'll have pictures up very soon, so everyone can see my "new" baby.

Welcome to KZr Jules. ![:) :)](/media/kunena/emoticons/8.png)
IIRC, you're about the 5th new member signing up here with a KZ650 in the past week.
I think the 900 and 1000 owners are slackin' off a bit.
And yes, please post some pics of your "new to you" bike when you get a chance.

Welcome Jules. And yes, bring on the pix.
Hope you find the cause for your loss of power, and rough idle. A carb cleaning may be in order, or maybe just some SeaFoam or similar added to the Gas and run through the bike.

Hi Jules, welcome aboard.
The 650s are definitely popular around here and are a sweet machine. Very approachable and well mannered, until you twist that grip.
Enjoy!

Thanks for the warm welcome! I've put a can of Seafoam in the tank, but I've had no results yet. as for the pictures, I have to get hold of a camera, so it may be a few days yet. i may be dropping the bike off today at a mechanics house for an overhaul on the carb system, so hopefully that will help
