a new KZ convert
26 May 2007 11:46
Hey all,
I found this site a few months back, before it really had anything working correctly, and then re-found it today while I was looking for some info. Seems like it's grown a lot in a short time, so I joined.
Bike:
1982 KZ1100 Spectre
Bought it a few months back for a song. The guy kept it in immaculate shape and it seems like the only thing he added were the crashbars and pegs. I threw a windshield on it yesterday and I have to say... I loved my old Suzuki GS1100 but this thing blows it out of the water!

Nice looking scoot...very clean.
Welcome aboard the KZ-train.![:) :)](/media/kunena/emoticons/8.png)
There are several Spectre owners here so I'm sure you'll hear from them.

Welcome slickware...nice bike. There are a few folks on this site who have Spectre's. Yours, in addition to the mods mentioned, also has been painted, has a 4/1 header, and has a different seat pattern. I really can't tell from the photo, but are your cases silver or gold? You'll enjoy this site...welcome home.

haha - I was going to mention the paint but I figured it would be fairly obvious ![:) :)](/media/kunena/emoticons/8.png)
I didn't realize the 4-1 wasn't stock, and I assumed the seat was aftermarket (hard to find an original '82 seat that doesn't look like crap).
The cases are painted silver.
When I found this site, I was searching for a way to put forward-controls on the bike. I really like the highway pegs, but I'm a slow/lazy rider so I think I might enjoy the floodboards and controls up there as well. Anyone know where I can do more research on getting those, or getting them installed?

ooo... I like that. Can I order those parts new-ish, or do I have to wait until they come around on ebay?

That is a steal. I bought my 1000 for $750 and got a can of starter spray and a can of chain and cable lubricant. Then had to ride it home as it was, bald front tire, oil leaks at the cam end plugs leaking fork seals, sand was in the carbs. I got a pic!

if I find another. Notice rusted front disks. Those things were ugly. When I got on the bike to see how it would feel I asked myself why I am even doing this. This bike is way too big for me. Thats what I thought then and it was, but I got used to it. Changed the handlebars and it became more handle-able..... is that a word? And I got it before the worst snow storms of Colorado, the very day before the snow snowed every week
