The following is a quote from the KZR archives.

Myself, I use PJ-1 Epoxy - it sets up harder than normal spray can clears and is about as gas proof as anything that comes with a rattle...

JMK.

theres a catch to this.
"as gas proof as anything that comes with a rattle"

there is no gas proof rattlecan.it basically boils down to what you want to pay if you screw up and spill gas.
the pj-1 clear is about 9.50 a can round my parts and the dupli-color is around 6.00.

ive had gas on mine and the fix was easy as pie
removed the emblem,sanded,painted,sanded,polished.
looks as good as new.and all i used was what was left os the duplicolor from the repaint.
:P

from the hardly paint writeup....

I'm not going to go into prep here. Just note that without proper preparation it is impossible to achieve a good paint job. There are books on the subject, and a kid on your block knows how.

wtf is that????.... anyone that has shot a coat of paint knows that 90%of a paintjob is prep.
that is also a 2part write up. and IMO not a very good one. not to mention that laquer paint is VERY hard to comeby because of various epa regulations. (if you can even get ahold of it)

That duplicolor SUV paint will smear when gas gets on it, and peel like a bad sunburn when gas gets under it.

high temp paints are only good if you flash cure them with heat.(usually half the rated temp)
i dont see what the big deal is.
do you plan on putting gas all over the tank?
my bike has been in duplicolor for quite a few months now with about 2000 miles on the paint.
including the overfill today its been gassed twice.this fix will be as easy as the first one(bike was laid up for 2 days)
yes spills will happen but if you know what to do then they are an easy fix.
my paint still looks as good as the day i polished it.

choosing high temp paint as the primary color limits your color options but i suppose you could go with the suv colors and a high temp clear.

apperantly i cant say it enough, no rattlecan paint is 100%gas resistant. they lack the catalysts to deal with heavy corrosives.there are 2 reasons for it.
#1 with the required catalyst, shelf life would decrease drastically.
#2 it isnt cost efficient to produce.

drotti, if you decide the suv paint is the way to go then i can take a few photo's of my "repair" on the gas drip.
