How did I hide my battery?? New cafe seat and cowl w/ pics!

I've received quite a few questions since I posted pictures of my ride in the gallery some months ago on where I hid my battery. I've answered those questions as they came but promised to take some pictures in the time to come. Well, here ya go!

What led to this was not *just* the fact that the old battery box was a little ratty and the glue job on my home made seat didn't like the summer heat. This did not bother me all that much. These were transitional items, so to speak, and would be replaced sometime in the future, when convenient.
The main reason is, after browsing for months and kicking around different ideas, I found a cafe upholstery pan at work that I liked. That brought along a whole new stream of thoughts, I needed to redo the seat base and come up with some kind of a cowl. I wanted to keep the low profile, bobbed look, and lines to match the tank. The pieces kinda came together last week and this is the result. Since the seat/cowl thing was the perfect opportunity to clean up the electrics a bit and make a new battery box, I did it all at once...

The seat will soon be upholstered or wait... is that a cafe tank  Keep you posted!!!

Very cool man! You just confirmed my thots... I just picked up a sealed battery that I plan on laying on it's side and tucking up out of view... should have it done tonight... I plan on mounting mine in the stock battery location. I'll post pics when it's done.

Love it! That cafe seat and metal cowl is killer.

Keep us posted...

Cheers,
Claude
