ST 1000- CSR 1000 fuel tank fitting

hello all its been a while since ive posted. i have a question for the hive mind! has any body fitted or tried fitting a 79/80 ST 1000 tank to a 1982 CSR 1000 j frame without major modsi have a cunning plan in mind but need to see if this is possible before spending money on parts. thanks Dean

I don't know how easily an ST tank can be made to fit, but the 1000-CSR has a different method of attachment at the rear. Another possible issue is that the CSR upper triple might bang against a larger fuel tank >> you can compare the triple trees to see whether or not the ST is angled more forward to allow for a larger tank. I would make careful comparisons & try to get some measurements. Partzilla & EB photos.

thanks for the reply at least its not a absolute no! i may go for it any anyway a bit of modding is not a problem. maybe the tank will need some race dimples!!! the bike has been hacked up by a PO or two so im not wrecking a mint bike once i get the parts i will put a post up in the projects section. The frame for the ST is wider, so it could very well fit the CSR. Anyway, I'd never fit an ST tank to another bike without assuring that there are plenty of tanks available, for those who are restoring STs today...

i thought id better answer my own question on the tank fitting. it may be of use to someone else. the forks clear the tank with minimal space but do not hit. CSR 1000 triples and legs fit as do KZ1000p triples and legs.. some pics that may be use full front mounting pin rear mounts i want to keep the original airbox so had to get a bit creative

but there is a CSR tank available !!!!
