Military issue paint

Has anyone used military paint on their bike?

I have considered doing a Satin Olive color for my bike and I want to keep the price down.

Good ole OD paint. OD does stand for over dirt so the prep cost will be cut considerably:woohoo:
You can mix lime green and black and get a nice OD green. Don't ask how i know. That mistake cost me $60.00.At least the paint man remembered the forumla to mix the next batch.
What i like about OD green if it is military spec you can thin it with gasoline. No joke. No smoking! Roy

you could always paint it with C.A.R.C they used to tell us it made our HMMWVS invisable to radar:whistle: :woohoo:

i've done my jeep and my bike with krylon camo system OD and i put rustoleum crystal clear over it and rustoleum gloss white. oh and i used a self etching primer by dupli-color (didn't want and companies to feel left out). all in all, 25 bucks in paint and 6 hours paintin and here's what i got.

Take any of the gazillion repaint jobs out there, let them sit in the sun/weather for <year they'le all look basically just like that. Just be patient for 12 months or less after painting and voila, you'll have it without even planning.

somewhere i have a link to a site that gives a paint code for the WWII Kawi fighter aircraft green.... i have considered it for my 900... ill find it and post it

Used to be I had an old BSA thunderbolt in desert camo.. I was told by the little merc guy I bought it from that it was used in the sultan of Omans lil defence force.. it just looked like some one painted the entire bike with desert tan and black and brown.. had some sort of sheet metal hung on the front of the frame looked like it was some sorta brush/leg guard and hung big ammo cans on the rear for panners, and painted them too! had tan canvas on the seat, I guess cause of the black vinyl being too hot or shiny... this the sorta thing your loking to do? Well dont forget to make a cateye cover for the headlight! lol!!!

I'll need to find a nice satin dark greenish color - or else the bike will be painted satin black as default.

thats awesome! just did mine OD b/c i had some leftover and was bored and i've been feelin kinda like a poser with U.S. paint on a japanese bike. you just gave new inspiration.
