silver and blue stripes 82 GPz was created by John68
does anyone know if the silver and blue stripes are available to buy? I think the original ones were painted onto the gas tank, and then they were decals on teh tailpiece, but it has been a while since I saw the tailpiece with the striping on it.

I'd like to paint them on the tank, if they are supposed to be painted on. Does anyone know if Kawasaki sells this paint? I found parts diagrams for hte bike on buykawasaki.com but can't find a listing for the actual paints.

Thanks,
John

John,
I checked on this a few weeks back. Try this www.afegraphics.com They have just about any stripes you could want and a program that if you help them develop a kit that they dont make at the time you get yours for free... They will even make custom kits.....Prices are in the 200 buck range.

David,
Thanks for the tip. They were one of the first places I contacted regarding my stripes. They didn't have anything for the 82 bikes, just the newer ones.

John:

Don't just look on AFE's site, you have to email them. They never list the '82 750/1100 stripe kit as being in stock but I purchased mine from them last summer. It was in the neighborhood of $70.00 w/shipping and included the stripes for the tank and tail piece. I still haven't put it on so I can't speak for quality, yet. BTW, they are the only place I have found, so far, that sells the entire striping kit.

The replica/touch-up paints are no longer handled by Kawasaki so you'll have to match them yourself. The only other option is to contact a fellow in Japan, an Australian living in Tokyo, I think, who claims to be able to get matching paint from Japanese outlets. This fellows name is George and you can reach him by emailing Jeff Saunders (Z1enterprizes.com) with a litany of your woes and he'll either contact George for you or pass along his email. I'm not sure if George is a member of KZR. He is a member of other Z groups but I have not been able to id him in the thousands of members here.

Micheal,
Thanks for the tip. I will have to check into that again. maybe you would also know...

does kawasaki handle the red (code B1) paint still? I checked on that about 3 years ago, and it was $60 a pint for the grey, and red clear.
Thanks again,
John

I don't know if the Big K carries any matching paints for the older bikes. However, the fellow in Japan you might contact is in this forum (I think) and goes by "georgeha". You can email him through this member list.

Thanks again,
btw, I took a look at your GPz pictures and I think they look great! hopefully they both survived rita, that would make me sick to my stomach to see them destroyed.

I'm sure I'll be hitting you up for more info as I get into my project more. :)

They don't have the silver and blue, but I think I read on their website that they can custom make some for you.
They already have they 82 black and silver stripes.
