1975 Z1 P

A 1975 Kawasaki Z1 900 cc motorcycle, modified through the addition of a shop-installed kit, then in 1976 available factory-built as a police motorcycle.

These bikes were built and designed on the Z1F frames.  The intial bike itself was built in Lincoln Nebraska.  In 1975, there were only about 220 made.  In 1976 there were about 234 made.

The bikes had the custom parts (floor boads, saddle bags, seats) manufactured and assembled on the bikes by Dan Gurney cycle products in California.  For the most part, the CHP tested about 50 of these bikes in 75 and about 50 more in 76.  According to old information that I have, they were elated with the bikes, but that there was a vibration problem in the front end at high speeds.  Incidently, the Milwaukee, Wi police department tasted about 5 of these bikes.  Two are known to still exist.  (i own one from Milwaukee and one CHP until that was also used in CHiPs)
