if you were to cut the springs in the front forks,is this an way to lower the front of the bike for drag racing?or does this do some nasty things?

If you cut the springs in the forks it will just make it a stiffer ride due to the lenth of the spring being shorter. It will also just make the spring compress at a low weight.
Why dont you slide the tube up in the triple.:)

Put spacers inside the fork tubes ,, It will make for a harder ride , Will add to performance ..Cutting or shortening springs is not really the way to go .. :) You can use PCV pipe cut to what you want to lower the bike ,, Here is the hard part though , You have to take the front forks apart to side your spacers over the fork tubes but under the seals ,, Might think of installing new seals at that time ,, :S But I am sure you already know that :dry:

Hey Buck,
First of all what sort of forks are you trying to lower? If they're old KZ's the simplest adjustment is to slide the tubes up in the clamps.
Shoe, You've got me confused. The spacers you're talking about are used to match or adjust a given set of springs in different length tubes. You could remove the stock spacers and replace them with longer ones for a stiffer ride. Or you could replace them with shorter ones for a softer and perhaps lower ride. Classically the spacers are dropped in on top of the springs and don't have anything to do with the seals.

Am I missing something?

No...you have to disassemble the forks and ADD a spacer to lower the ride height. Did it on my dragbike. I recommend aluminum rather than PVC though.

I used the lowering kit from schnitzracing.com I had to cut the springs to get it back together though. Looks cool lowered 2 inches!

i already did the triple tree thing but i want to go lower still,you only get about an inch or so with the trees.

OH I get it.

You're putting a spacer between the damper assembly and the bottom of the fork tube so the forks can't extend fully.
Do you then leave out the top spacer if one is used?

You might have to cut the tops the same length as your new spacer trial will tell all ,, Hey Mr Airclutch give me a write .. would love to see what your up to .. ?:) Thanks for getting my advise straight guys ..:)
