Thanks GD.  Here's the thing, I ordered new turn signals from Z1 Parts.  They sent me two sets, a two wire and a single wire.  The diagrams shows both front and back using two wire.  I shouldn't have to be running an extra ground wire, not sure why they sent two different sets.  Trying to figure out which will be easier, returning these and waiting another two weeks or working with the 1 wire set.

Original z1 turn signals use one wire through the stem and ground wire under stem nut.
The 2 wire from z1parts has tail light and turn light (not original).

The Z1 and Kz900’s had no running lights in the front. Turn signals only, single element bulb. The rear tail/brake light has a dual element bulb, brake and running light. Just like the front the rear turn signals are single element bulbs, turn signal only, no running light. The correct turn signal NOS is still available. About $70.00 each. They are one wire and ground is through the stem. A black/yellow wire with a brass ring connector on one end and a 2.5 mm bullet connector on the other.

EDIT, It may be a 4mm male bullet on the end of the ground wire, memory vague.

I was never able to find stems in good enough condition. And I didn’t find any NOS. I had my stems replated.

I believe the LTD version (with front turn signals on the bars) had running lights on the front.  I know mine does (1980) but not sure of other years.

I buy the covers through Partzilla.  I've only had baskets and stems replated, and have a few gathering dust waiting for their turn.

I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.

HRM your correct. The 1976 Kz900’s LTD had turn/running lights. They were mounted on the Handlebars. Thank You

I've got a black and white diagram in both my factory manual and my Clymer.  The Clymer is most accurate because it specifies 73 and 74 Z1 but it's black and white.  I'm starting out from an electrically challenged position here and want to make it as easy as I can on myself.
