I would think so. If you give me the #s, I could look them up on the computer at work to confirm.

You know Randy, it occurs to me that the key number may not be on the ignition switch. I know it is on the seat lock for sure.

Here's a partial list of key codes. Look for a number that fits into one of the ones below. There are some older #s, but I don't think yours would match any of those.

Kawasaki Key Code Series

170-174
175-195
176K-250K
251K-325K
3101-3150
3201-3250
326K-400K
401-470
701-720
706-710
751-795
8001-9000
801-845
901-925
A00-A99
B8001-B9000
E8001-E9000
G1-G35
KZ5001-KZ6000
N1-N35

the only thing I could find on the cylinder was KM90. That is printed right next to where the key fits in the cylinder underneath the beauty plate that covers the whole thing....can't find anything else on the main one and there was nothing at all on the seat lock cylinder. I didn't see anything on the list above that is similar to mine....am I looking in the wrong spot??

Here are the other codes listed, but no KM codes are shown in the program:

12345(0)
12345(H)
12345(Z)
(A)1234
(B)1234 This is the B series, but shows a face.
(CA)12345
(G)1234
(H)1234
(H)12345
(J)1234
(K)1234
(L)1234

The ones above will have either a 4 or 5 digit # followed by the letter or have a letter in front.
IE/EXAMPLE: K1234 series codes will have a K in front followed by 4 numbers, and 12345Z series codes will have 5 numbers followed by Z.

This is the last code series, but is not used on motorcycles, just other gas caps:
PLC401-600

TunaTodd, you will have to find another set of numbers.

The numbers being posted are KEY CODES. The key codes for many Z1/KZ models are in the 7xx series. The key code is not stamped on the ignition switch as I recall but is stamped on the seat lock. LOOK ON YOUR SEAT LOCK. It might also be on the steering stem lock but I am not sure. The KEY CODE can be used by a locksmith to cut a KZ key blank to make a key as these numbers are actually instructions for making the cuts. The main supplier of key blanks to hardware stores and such is a company called ILCO. The CORRECT KEY BLANK for a Z1/KZ/VN/ZG and probably other Kawasaki models is a double sided blank with the stampings:

X103 KA14

It is likely that a bike shop will have blanks but your hardware may not have these blanks. If they don't, talk to the manager and ask him to order some. The hardware won't carry them as they are not used for much except Kawasaki bike keys.

I just ran down to the garage to look again and did find other numbers. On the backside of the seatlock there is a little sticker with B113321 on it. I found another near the ignition switch with the same number printed on it. I was expecting to see the numbers on the lock cylinders themselves. Are these the correct ones then??

Yep, right under the steering deadlock bolt there is Z#### stamped right on it, same as the seat & helmet lock.
Cost me $25+uncle sam for a key though. But its done now and I am over it.

Todd, your B # has too many digits to fit in the above series. There is the B8001 - B9000 series and the older B four digit series. What bike are you looking for a key to fit? Year and Manufacturer.

It is an 81 Kz 440. I have pulled the cylinders out of the ignition and helmet/seat lock and found nothing at all....just the stickers on the back plate of the seat lock and near the ignition switch on the steering head. What am I missing???
