Hey everyone, recently I've been fortunate enough to buy a set of old Kawasaki vacuum gauges plus a pressure gauge and an electro tester in a kind of hard suitcase! I paid £100 for the three, and I'm just wondering how rare or valuable they may be? I can't see any on ebay etc! ....

I've never seen the gauges on sale. I once saw the electrical tester. I suspect technology has superceeded both, although they may both be still in working condition. I really like the boxes they came in. The only special tool in my shop is the ring compressor for a 900 cc engine. I've looked for other special tools but not often found them, although a couple of common ones (snap ring pliers) are still for sale through Partzilla.

I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.

They certainly are working! The electro tester confirmed that my coil packs were working a while back and the gauges set up my carbs about 2 years ago and the bike ran so much better afterwards :) as for the ring compressors, there are two that I could get hold of. ...for a 650 and 900 they're the alloy frame ones that do all four at once right?

Yes, if you rebuild engines they make the job much easier.

I've spent a bit of time cruising ebay for seal/bearing drivers with little success. I have a friend with a complete set that I borrow when I need them, but he lives about 3 hrs from me so it requires some organizing to borrow. Hence keeping my eye out for my own.

Thanks Texas kz :) it's all part of a bereavement sale, my friend dougie sadly died age 83 in April, he was a gifted mechanic and a kawasaki man from 1971, he worked for kawasaki until 1984 then set up his own business as a kawasaki specialist in 1984 through to 2010, I really miss him and I'm trying to buy all the tools I can to preserve them and look after them the way that he did, he was a big fan of mac tools, I'd say I've bought 20% of his workshop so far. ..there's only so much I can afford at one time! I organized and polished up a lot of these tools yesterday, here they are....!

Very nice. You will never regret owning high quality tools, and these will be all the nicer to own and use because of your personal connection to their previous owner. Hopefully, there will be another young mechanic who will treasure them after you are finished with them.

Yes I hope so :) when it came to tools and cars Dougie was all American! That's right he only ever owned and drove American! From memory he had a 58 Buick road master, an early riviera with the stacked headlights, a Plymouth fury station wagon, a few firebirds, trans ams, z28's , many 60s dodge and Chevy pick ups and his favorite a 71 440 Cuda six pack! He owned the Cuda from 1980 and nothing in this country could touch it for straight line acceleration, the only problem is you had to ask the passenger if it was clear to overtake!
Come to think of it Dougies widow Liz recently and kindly gave me the hood ornament from one of his old Buicks :)

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationJust picked this up... Not needed but I wanted it. Its a tool that cant get out of calibration and is as accurate today as 40 years ago.
