hi guys i was just wondering if a guy can use 4 vac gauges like the ones you can buy for testing vac on a vehical motor

like this one

i have two 1983 kz750 L3

they should work as long as they are all the same test them out on one vacuam source individually to see how much difference there is between them and compensate foe the differences also you would need some sort of damper inline with each to smooth out pulsations. so you may be just better off buying a motion pro set-up from any bike shop i prefer sticks to gauges myself anyway. they always seem more accurate to me.

For sure you'll need the dampers (how do I know?) or the needles will bounce all over the place. If you get the dampers and hook the guages up to the bike, note the readings then switch the guages to different carbs to see if the readings follow the guages or stay consistent with the carbs. This should show if the guages are all calibrated evenly. Ed

Haven't tried this unit from Z1E, but looks interesting.

Click > Stick Gauge from Z1E

Have always preferred using the simple old fashioned mercury manometer carb sync tubes (due to perceived better accuracy and consistency) instead of the new-fangled "spring-loaded" maybe-or-maybe-not equalized needle gauges.

Also haven't yet tried the Morgan Carbtune sync unit, which some folks highly recommend.

You can make the dampers yourself.

You can use anything hard that plugs/slides into the vac line (wood, plastic, etc.) Make them all 5mm in length, then drill a 1mm hole thru each, and your done. Shove them into the vac line at the end that will be connected to the engine.

Works perfect, done it tons of times.

patton i have that motion pro system myself i like it very much and no mercury to lose or replace when it gets contaminated. tek i have built dampers similar to what your describing for gauges and they worked quite well but i still prefer sticks over gauges.they always seem to be a bit more precise.

ok how often would one use a manometer i only have one bike and dont plan on doing alot of carb work
i just have a hard time spending that much money on a tool i may only used once a year

i have two 1983 kz750 L3

Or less often.

A very understandable concern.

But consider price of tool is offset by whatever a shop would charge to sync the carbs. Never mind time and effort getting bike to the shop, doing without bike, picking it up, etc.
