Since the 440 has a bent valve and no title, it goes on the back burner. The 750 is a great super stock bike with all the stickers and only 10,000 miles. Has some electrical work to be done but all original screws are intact on the motor. Only thing that has been touched is the chain and tires. Also no turn signals. Would love some help getting it started.

Good.
Plugs changed,
new battery,
(old one has 6 v so maybe can be topped off and charged?),
Tires and chain/sprockets are good.
Oil changed

Bad.
Carbs are dirty and need of some cleaning
Some spark on two plugs, no spark on another
Weak Turnover
Valve condition unknown
timing advancer cover seems to have been messed with.

Ways to fix the spark? Is it the plug wires or the coils? One side wasnt sparking and the wires into the coil were reversed.
Also I am draining the battery so i have to get a charger for it. Any ideas?

check your coil connections. I traced a no spark condition to the positive to the coil being disconnected. make sure you are getting close to battery voltage at the coil. If not, start tracing it back... Good luck. It is a great looking bike.

Ok I am not very good with electrics. I have seen three other threads and read the manual concerning the IC system check. How do i check voltage at the coil?

Your coils have three wires: The Primary which goes to the spark plug and a positive and a negative. Check the positive wire (probably red) and the negative for 12V or close to battery voltage. Your key has to be in the on position.

What does the poster mean when they say in #1 "1.Trace back from where the pick up coils are mounted,(under a right side CD sized cover) locate and disconnect a small 4 pin connector. Using a multi-meter set on OHMS and range of 2K, check between the BLUE and BLACK wires(#1 and #4 sparkplug wires) for between 360- 540 OHMS."
Do they mean under the tank or under the seat? and where is there a four pin connector ?

ok so i checked the primary side and got 3.5 on both but nothing on the secondary side. I checked the secondary at the coil not at the end of the boots cuz i wasnt getting a reading at 20K olms.

Oops, not quite right! Lol
The primary is the winding which has battery voltage applied and the grounded side which will be connected to ground through the points or a solid state circuit where the advance mechanism is. The secondary is the spark plug wire(s).
Primary will be very low DC resistance like 2 Ohms to 5 Ohms. Etc
The secondary will be high resistance like 15,000 to 24,000 Ohms.
Don't check resistance with the coil connected to anything...especially with the ignition on!! Pull the primary wires off to be sure.

yah i didnt get a reading with the secondary. I checked my kz440 with a new (i think new) coil and i didnt get a secondary either. Both Bad?

Right. I should have said HT lead goes to the spark plug. Thanks for correcting me.
Like I said I had the same situation where two cylinders were not firing and it was because one of the coil connections had come loose. I always like to check the simple things first.

coul be.... Did you connect the ohm meter between both spark plug wires on one coil? The secondary on at dual coil is from plug wire to plug wire.

I did not...They came out to be in the 11s. So it seems the boot wires are to blame! thank god.
