I've been meaning to start this thread for a long, long time, so here goes! This is my 79 MKII project. I've owned the bike since '88 and did a complete restoration in '89. It was due for another resto, so I started this version nearly 4 years ago. Things sure go slowly when you have a wife and 4 young kids!

Here's the before look:

And the after look - almost finished:

WOW! Very nice. B)

What's involved in widening the rims, and increasing the diametre on the back?
Are you running radial tires now?

Here's a link to the rebuild album if anyone is interested. There are over 500 pictures in it.

Kosman can explain the wheels better than me...

www.kosman.net/weldup.htm

Yes, I am running radials now. The main reason I went with the 17 / 18 combo was for tire selection. There aren't too many good sizes anymore for 19" and even the 18" is getting harder to find. The radials have felt great so far on the limited riding I've done (about 40 miles).

The rear shocks and rear axle are now lower and the forks are a little higher up in the tree. I didn't like how it handled. I still have to dial in the carbs and might change sprocket/chain combinations...again! Also changed mirrors and have a few other little things to do. Can't wait for warm weather! I'll post a few more pics of the finished product.

Here's the tail, also painted my McCall Colors. I am a huge Led Zeppelin fan and this is from the 4th album. It's also a tarrot card - the hermit.
