Ok everybody, here is the kickoff of a major reconstruction of the ugliest KZ750B on the planet. I picked this bike up as a parts bike for my other KZ750. click here for info on that one... kzrider.com/index.php?option=com_kunena&...imit=20&limitstart=0

But after some tinkering, I found out that it was actually a fantastic runner with a lot of potential. The luggage and windshield have to go, don't you think?

Can you take something this terrible and make something cool? Of course you can!

At this point I found another one with a parts bike, and robbed the stock forks from the extra bike, as well as the well worn Mac 2 into 1 system. Then the carbs were cleaned again, and the engine tuned up. The bike was cleaned A LOT and then lowered to start working on that cafe look.

I'll start putting up bigger pictures as things get more exciting....

As this point I could have left it alone... But what fun would that be? Besides, it is still no where near as nice as my other one. The frame was showing some minor rust, and the bars are still hideous..... I always wanted to strip a bike all the way down to nothing and paint the frame and the whole nine yards. So here goes nothing!

When your bike no longer looks like a bike, You need some inspiration to keep you going... So time for some trick photography! I made the following picture by turning the .jpg into a .bmp and doing a little editing. Delete the bars and shorten the butt end.....

Then order the clubman handle bars, and the custom headlight mount...

Pick a color..... Looks like this one is going to be Dodge Viper Red. Both the frame and body.

Then find a seat... That turned out to be quite a trick but finally I found www.cafeseat.com and ordered their large seat. There is even a picture of a KZ750B cafe on that page. Go figure.

By the way, if you are a cafe racer fan, check out www.cb750cafe.com That is about the most inspiring site in the world to me!

As of today the frame is bare and has been completely sand blasted and primed. When the seat comes the frame will get shortened up a bit, and then painted. Then I will start the reassembly and keep everyone posted as I go... This is going to be one seriously sweet machine when it's finished, and I sincerely hope that it is "BIKE OF THE MONTH" sometime in the near future!

If you haven't already done so you'll want to check out this thread.

Dave did a really nice job on this bike. Unfortunately all his hard work was destroyed when a cager turned left in front of him a few months back. The thread has a lot of nice pics he took along the way and should serve to keep you inspired.
