Common Mods was created by cashmore1985
I just picked up a 73 z1 and right now she's a little worse for the wear but I'm wondering what are some common mods to do to one. I've seen some with inverted forks and I'm curious how hard that is. Mostly I'm just curious what the usual things to change are. Thanks.

1973 Z1 900. Currently ratty. Black Mac Performance 4-1 canister exhaust. Emgo Pod Filters, LTD Seat, 3 point crash bars, big ass touring screen. Work in progress.

the reason i'm not going to restore is because of a discrepancy on the title, it has the engine number as the vin, instead of the frame number

 :P a few....

Seriously, if it´s in some restorable condition resto it. You´ll find many other newer bikes to play with IMO.

I know in the state of Ohio it can be titled to engine or frame if it old enough. I say as long as it is a valid title that can be matched to the bike all is fine.

That doesnt seem like a very big obstacle or good reason not to restore is it is in fairly original condition.

But hey i like mods too. i would go for extended swing arm and updated front end, loose the stock exhaust and put a 4 into 1 and pods on it. :side:

As far as a Restore goes, maybe one day. Right now though, not on my list of things to do. I need a "do-everything" bike from it right now so I'll probably not get too crazy with it. It does have electronic ignition. It has that ugly black Mac 4-1 exhaust. I was thinking of getting a Vance and Hines 4-1. It has an LTD seat, and I'm kinda thinking of going with something different but I'm not sure what yet. I need a passenger seat but I don't know if I want to go for the king and queen saddle, even though the wife would like that. I guess I'll have to see how far she's willing to ride with me.

So what kind of modding do you have to do to make an inverted fork setup fit? Thanks.
