KZ750 from zero to hero...... was created by speedadict
It is so much fun to take a ugly pig, and make it into something cool. This project is just to show how easy it is to take a ugly old man bike, and turn it into something to be proud of. Here I started with a 79 KZ750B twin, that I bought off of ebay for $541.

Obviously the first step is to loose weight, and get rid of all that extra junk before any of your friends see you with a bike like that!

Finding that the bike ran exceptionally well, the most major problem, was the rotted exhaust. A quick call to Dennis Kirk for some Mac pipes, and a winning bid on Ebay for some drag bars... creates this...

I also did some metal polishing and deep cleaning at this phase.

Next I put about two hundred miles on the bike just to enjoy some early spring riding. The bike is not terribly fast, but has a good amount of torque, and is quite a bit of fun to ride. Plus I like the fact that there are only two cylinders, and two carbs. Next phase is to repaint the tank, side covers, and tail. Sometimes, they have to get uglier before they can look better... My ultimate goal is to also paint the frame to match the tank. It is going to be a fairly dark, metalic blue... Stay tuned.

On this bike I could have kept going, but chose to sell it at this phase...

Thanks guys... To tell you the truth, I have no idea what that Honda exhaust was. On the bike when I got it, was the header that you see, with a black tractor muffler stuck on it, and the chrome muffler in a box, because it "was too loud." Go figure...

Here it is with new paint.... The paint looks pretty good in this picture, but its not good enough. I am going to spray it again in the next day or two. The funny looking spot on the side of the tank, is actually just my reflection. Stil, there is some dirt in the paint so I am going to do it over again... Then the next step will be a new stripe job.
