Okay this is what I had as of August '06

I really wanted it more cafe so I traded the drag bars for clubmans and went flat black on the deal.

I chopped the rear of the frame, used a chopped metal bucket for the tail, I read about trying that from the cafe racer forums, it looks good, but needs more work so it says "custom tail" rather than "ghetto bucket"

I fiberglassed my own seat. For first time, it turned out pretty awesome. I measured the frame a lot and made sure it fit snug.

The bike as it sits. I need to rebuild the front forks (yikes) so they are off of the bike right now. I also tried fitting a front scoop on the bike but it won't fit around the stock exhaust so I might try mounting it off of the pipes if I can find a way to keep it from melting off of the clamps while riding. I might not put it on, I don't know.

Comin along nicely. B) I like what your doing with the seat and tail. I'd like to come up with a single seat and tail set up.

I needed to cut some of the front scoop I used off to clear the exhaust. You wont see most of whats missing. Mine is just zip tied to the frame. Just have to keep an eye on the zip ties for breakage, and carry a few spares. So far only one broke in one season of riding.

I think it would work if I had a 4 into 1 exhaust, but the stock outer pipes still stick out wider than the frame so I don't think I can zip it without having it up against the exhaust. My scoop might not have been wide enough either, I think it was from a vf500, but not sure since I dug it out from a pile of junk at the local cycle salvage and it had no label.

I spent a lot of the weekend polishing the engine and fitting everything back on, I'm still working on the exhaust situation, but it is all coming together nicely. I think I'm going to have to rewire the front end to make it less cluttered due to the lower bars, but I am liking how it is going so far.

I spent a couple of hours pounding at one of the forks with an impact driver to get the allen bolt out to change the seal, and when I finally got the seal changed and the fork put back together I realized I changed the seal on the good fork and not the fork I really needed to change the seal on. After another 10 minutes of hammering away at the bad fork I gave up and put it back on the bike, the leak wasn't too bad anyways and I really need to get the bike in a moveable condition since I'm moving in a few weeks.

Here's a pic.

The seat isn't all the way on, it really lines up with the tank almost exactly like it does in the earlier pic.
