I am John, living in Washington State. My 1975 Z1 is the 67th motorcycle I've owned in 57 years of riding. I bought it in a neglected state, spent many hours fixing it up and now love riding it regularly. I look forward to sharing info on the forum.

Hello John, welcome from Massachusetts.  Out of curiosity - were any of your previous motorcycles Z1's or KZ's ?

Good to hear from you. No previous Z1's and the only Kawasaki I had before was a late 1980's GPZ500 back in the UK (where I'm from) which was brilliant. This Z1 was a stroke of luck barn find. 2 previous owners, 26,000 miles, and apart from looking tatty it was in excellent mechanical order. I'll try to attach a photo of it now. Cheers.

Welcome John!  Lots of Z1 owners here.  Is that original paint?

I have several restored bikes along with a 2006 Goldwing with a sidecar. My wife has a 2019 Suzuki DR 650 for on and off road.

Nope. It's a new body set (tank, tail and sides) made in Japan, bought through Z1 Parts (or Z1 Enterprises, both excellent). Ditto the exhaust. Superb quality and a perfect fit. Transformed the bike. I'll add a photo of the bike when I first saw it, untouched for many years sharing an open sided barn with an old Corvette.

Nice job on the resurrection John. We had a 75 Z1-B but it was a little more than we wanted to tackle so we sold it to a collector. Whereabouts in Washington are you? I'm south of Stanwood about 50 miles north of Seattle. I recently brought my uncles 77' KZ 1000 LTD back to life.

Yours was originally red and now it's blue.  Mine was blue and now it's red.  But I have a complete blue set if I ever want to change it back.  What did you do with the red parts?  They still look in good shape.

Like you, I've kept the original red set in case the next owner wants to change it back. It was quite faded and I prefer the blue. I also have an almost new 4 into one exhaust system which I fitted at first until I could afford the correct 4 into 4 (which is much nicer looking but adds 25lb weight). Will sell that if anyone wants it.
