Hello from Chicagoland!

Just Horse-Traded for this beauty, !!!75 miles !!! on her.
But 'Rode Hard and put away Wet'
Quick tank(not orig), carb & plug clean and still running like crap.
We'll see what unfolds with digging through the Shed Queen Resurrection process.
Looks just like my KD/KE?125 Trusty Dirt Bike  I started with in mebbe 74. My lil Putt-Putt...
Any advice {or derision} is welcome. A Biig change from my 95 Virago 1100!
Thanks!

Welcome to the Forum and congrats on your find.
I've had an eye out for a KZ200 for a while. There was a girl at a VJMC event in Helen, GA that had a really cool cafe KZ200. I probably have a picture of it somewhere.

Welcome to the forum and thumps up for the good catch. 75 mile on the clock is like nothing. What´s wrong with the org. tank. We need more pics and hit the insert all button next time. You will find a service manual(s) in the data base

EDIT: Thank you to the unkown uploader of the 5th. edition of the KZ200 FSM
          A "what´s new" hint to the new added data base files would be a great/helpful forum upgrade

UPDATE 9/17 Well, Guys, hadn't set Points in a long time! the Dwell-light-bulb method still works well! Wanna try Stock 1st, then mebbe E/I
ANNOYING that the Oil Filter's in the Engine Case!
BAD NEWS, while the oil was still clear brown when drained it did smell Gassy... pulled carb off and did a compression check
60psi cold, carb off WOT dry  90psi with a 1/2 shot of 80-90.. It's bleeding at the head gasket. The AW S--T of the month... GRRRRRrrrrrrRRRR.
My forensic de-construction guess is O/O left petcock on and cranked into a hydro(gas)-locked engine blowing the head gasket bitd...
The KZ-200 seems to be somewhat a Red-Headed Stepchild. Simple enough engine, though shouldn't be too tough...
Lurking the nether-regions of the Internet for a Head Gasket set.
OR Sell, if the Offer's Right.....any pointers?

TEX;

Yup I saw the 'Donut' style OEM;
The inbound one is a 1 piece aftermarket that seemed to be the consensus 'Upgrade, Fix' for the issue...
Draining the Gas tank and lurking my Electronics budds for Ferric Chloride to 'Gun Brown' the inside of the gas tank so it'll never rust from the inside. [15Y so far on my Virago]
Looks like I'll have 2-3 weeks for a good 'pickling' on the steel 2 stroker tank that came with it... I may Lurk for a stock tank, dunno...
Anyone have period KAWASAKI tin for the tank [KD,KE 125 style?]

I think you are overthinking it.  Probably just stuck rings. Clean the carb, tank, points, install a new battery and run some premix through it.

Not Stuck Cranks & runs, though!
Naaah at 18HP in full high compression shoving my 250lb butt around It'll need all the compression it can muster.
Parts inbound, Rainy day so I'll clean off the workbench for the new gasket job...

The Definitive test was when the compression test oil was blowing/leaking out around the head-to-block seal...

The Saga continues!
Got the head  & gasket off and scoured the 'donut' rest and head where exhaust/power was leaking, smoothed out blowtorching, still flat in daylight...
Reassembling tomorrow!

After beating my head on the KEHIN and discovering the rubber O-Rings had dissolved I figured a new carb was far less expensive than fixing the old one.
I still haven't run it more than a mile or 2 since then but it's holding a consistant idle and kicks on the first crank.
More in Spring when I can put 40-50 miles or more on it and check plug flash....
