NEW 1981 KZ305 owner!! was created by Mykdee
I am picking up a one owner 1981 CSR 305 tomorrow. It has been park in storage for about 10 yrs and is all original and supposedly ran great when parked. Unfortunately they left fuel in it and I will obviously need to rebuild the carbs. Any advice on where to find parts? I want to get this bike up and running and keep it all original for my around town fun bike!!
Thanks

Howdy. "ran great when parked." the previous owner's always say that & that's always good for a chuckle. hee.

That bike should clean up very nicely. You got a good deal. You can download a workshop manual here . Click on the "Articles" tab above. Do all suggested maintenance and dont trust 10 year old tires.

Ebay may have some bits and pieces.

Can't beleive I forgot this one. It is a great source of factory parts and has Kawasaki' parts diagrams to boot.

Thanks for the info on the manual. We actually know the previous owners quite well, they are one of our first accounts we got when we started are business. I actually got to see this bike about 5 yrs ago when they first brought it to their body shop to store it and it was in great shape and very clean. It was supposed to go to their daughter but she was not interested. So at the time 5 yrs ago, it was ready for the street and than stored again at the shop.
Living in Arizona and how hot it gets here, anything and everything we buy used that has tires, gets a new set of rubbers immediately. During the summer the roads are littered with old tires that blew from the heat!

Went to pick the KZ up today and the previous owner detailed it for me!!
Loaded it up and bring her to her new home. All cozy next to another Kawi!

Under all that dust and grime was a great looking bike!

Ok, so this maybe a stupid question.
I tried to open the seat and it seems stuck! I used the key and it releases the back of the seat, but something seems to be stuck towards the front. I just don't want to start pulling hard on it and something breaks!

Figured out my seat "problem". That was easy enough!

So I had a couple of my friends over today and we were looking over the bike, and it looks like the tank had been emptied before they stored it. So it looks like it might be in better shape than expected. They did say that their dad was trying to fix a miss the motor was having before he passed. Ideas of what could cause a miss, could it be as easy as valve adjustment or just bad spark plugs?

I already have everything for a oil change, spark plugs, I also ordered a carb rebuild kit, but for now I am just going to clean them out and try to get it running. What else should I do?
