Thanks for hosting this site folks. I have been looking at it for a couple of months now and finally decided to take the plunge and join.

As a teenager I hung around and then worked at a Kawasaki shop in Deadwood, SD. That's just next door to Sturgis. Bought my first 100cc 10 speed Kawasaki trail bike before I had my drivers license. Mostly owned dirt bikes and almost all Kawasaki. Did have a 500 triple for a while. Working at the shop had it's advantages in that I road everything Kawasaki built in the 70's. Stopped riding after I sold the 500, so until this year, I had not ridden since about 1979. I always wanted a 900 LTD. Since it was time for my mid-life crises, I did one of the more stupid things of my lifetime. I bought a 900 LTD off Ebay. It looked fairly good and was advertised as having original paint and nice chrome among other things. The second it rolled off the truck, I knew I had spent too much money. After an unsuccessful attempt at dispute resolution on both Ebay and PayPal and with some encouragement from my wife, I decided to fix the old girl up. By the way, don't count on paypal to help out, They told me that I got a motorcycle so I got what I paid for. They told me, and I quote, "if you had bought a motorcycle and received a rock, then you would have a claim." Anyway, I will be chiming in on the forum and asking questions as I restore probably the greatest bike Kawasaki ever built.

Well I think if you need technical help, like to laugh at bad jokes , enjoy sophomoric humor, then you came to the right place. These guys really know their stuff. I'm a kid that never grew up and although I won't speak for anyone else, I suspect there might be a few more like me.Please post some pictures for us to salivate over. And Welcome. The forum is open 24 hours a day for you. You're a leg up if your wife is encouraging you!

Welcome, 76LTD!
Hey, I got your PM, and asked you to post in the New Members Forum before I saw that you already did!
You've got to post some pics.... you can call it 'Before' if you want, we all love to see them.
My 900LTD is bone stock, except for the repaint. If you want to restore the bike to original, I can tell you what's original and what's not.
Don't know what kind of shape your bike's in, but I think you got a good model to work with.
G'luck!

OK, I think I sort of figured out how to post pictures. At least one at a time. This is essentially how the bike looks today. Except, it is now back from the powder coater and ready to start putting it back together.
