I remember a shower of sparks as we slid for the first 150 feet at about 45 mph. Luckily no cars were coming in the opposite direction.

Nope, I came around a downhill sweeping right hander which opened into an uphill grade. It was late in the afternoon and the sun was at the crest of the hill washing out the road, it was all a glare. I maintained my line but only had about 10 to 15 feet visibility in front of me, at 45mph a log about 10 inches in diameter was right in from of me accross the road, must have fallen out of the woods or dropped off the back of a truck, no time for even brakes. I hit it, tried to keep it up, tires were screetching believe it or not like a car that lost control, but it dumped and we both slid. First one side on the pavement, grinding and sparking all over, I hung on, then it went off the road where it spun around and the pipe on that side dug in and it flipped, threw me and I ended up in a poison ivy patch up against a stone wall fence, typical of New England Connnecticut. I was awakened to the paramedics cutting my clothes off feeling all my extremeties to check for broken bones, (didn't break a one). I begged not to cut my leathers, they got the pants but not the jacket. State Troopers report stated I slid for 145 feet, according to the scraps and rubber patches on the road. Two days later after I left the hospital, I had poison ivy all over, everywhere they touched me. The worst part to me is shown in the photos. I was sick for 12 years until I finally rebuilt is to the condition you see in the photos. I go way back with this bike, bought it new. A good strong nice looking machine. Be careful and be smart.
