I found this 5 spoke single brake rotor wheel. Its from an 83 KZ/GPZ305. It is the style to match my 18x10.5 Weld Racing wheel. I want to be sure that is capable of the added weight of the kz1000 compared to the 305cc bike. I have brake rotor to fit which, in it's own is hard to find. It is an 18" wheel which I know alot of guys use because racing slicks are not available in 19". I plan on having it chromed to match the rear. What do ya think guys? Tom

Hi Tom:

I would not run that wheel on your bike... there are much higher stress loads with the weight increase for your application. The hub area of the wheel you posted scares me. If you are interested in running an 18" front the KZ1000D (Z1R) run factory 18" front and rear (from memory) but they are a 7 spoke. Can't you find a matching front Weld wheel? or is your Weld rear wheel an actual car wheel with 0 offset? I always thought Weld made car/truck wheels only. I know custom bike parts are out of control nowadays for the high end stuff.... crazy money!

He probably wants a 5-spoke to kinda match the rear wheel.
The 82-2005 KZ1000-P police bikes have 18" wheels 7-spoke.
The GPz1100 has an 18" Fr wheel. the ZX750 Fr is the same. the pickings are slim but several are listed on eebbaayy.
not sure if they're considered 3-spoke or 6-spoke as they are in pairs.

Yea, my rear wheel is a Weld racing motorcycle rim. Bought it a while back for $300 new in the box. This bike will be ridden only on occassion and not daily. It matches extremely close to the rear. I wouldn't think a 200lb difference in motorcycle weight would make a difference in the big picture.

With a 10.5 wide back wheel you ain't bombing corners anyways right ?

For a drag style bar hopper it might work infact I'm gonna see if I can find one and see about it working
on my drag bike it'd take a few lbs. off the front compared to the 19" spoke wheel.

The red rim I'm using is an 18". If you are looking for a similar rim, I have a 19"x1.85 identical to it but it's for dual disc if you are interested. Ill work ya a deal.

I've been wanting to go to a narrow 18" front wheel and a small tire to take weight off and
lower the bike a little.

Double disc 5 spoker from GPz550 H1 H2 kz550f perhaps?

Chroming alloy is a difficult one, just mirror polishing the rough cast would be a major task.

edit it's a 19" as tom has.
