As I understand it the emulators only affect compression damping.

Instructions call for 15W oil but the Kawasaki manual says 10W for the 750 forks.

If I go with 15W the rebound damping will be higher right?

If I go with 10W the compression damping will be lower, so maybe I should crank up the emulator a little?

Help appreciated, I'm confused.

You may want to start with 15W fork oil and work your way down or start with 10W and work your way up. If you use Bel Ray (which I have been using for almost 40 years with great success) you can mix various weight fork oils until you find exactly the combination that works best for your bike. Decided to hedge my bet and mixed together 10W and 15W to create 12.5W. Cranked up the emulators compression damping setting 1/2 extra turn on the spring tension to compensate.

The emulators added about 3/4" of extra spring preload which increased ride height. Not happy with that. I'm running Progressive springs and there are no spacers to chop down so I'm going to have to cut the spring. The forks now make a squeak noise during jounce so something isn't right inside. I think one of the emulators must be scraping the inside of the fork. I'm going to have to pull out the springs and emulators and try to figure out what's going on there. This project is turning into a pain in the butt.

I don't know if I'd cut the springs. Can you reset the preload? I've been thinking about getting some too. Pics? I'd like to see how it turns out.

There are no preload spacers Steve. The springs stick out the top of the stanchion tubes and I had to compress the spring with the top cap before the cap would thread on.

I don't want to cut the springs either. I'm going to contact Sonic Springs and see what they have for the KZ750 and maybe go with those springs instead so I don't have to cut anything. The Progressive springs for the 750 are also speced for the GS1000 so they are on the stiff side of average already so that's another good reason to not cut them (which makes them stiffer).

Call Race Tech's support. They've always been very helpful and they know what really know what they're talking about when it come to suspension set-up.
Heavier wt. fork oil will give your slower rebound. Shock "pack" shouldn't be an issue on the street. If your roads have a lot of square edge bumps or expansion joints, especially on the corners, slower rebound may be a problem. Don't you drill the rod orifice to a larger diameter when installing the emulators? The increase wt is probably to compensate for the increased flow.

You will never notice a difference in performance between the 10 and 15w oils.
