Hello all. I bought a 1982 KZ1100 Spectre last year. I have been working on it slowly to get it ready to ride. I had to rebuild the carbs, including replacing 2 of the diaphragms which are way more expensive than I expected. I still need to replace the gasket for the head/valve cover because its seeping slightly on the left side. Then I will be rebuilding the front calipers because the one on the left side slowly leeks around the piston. I would also like to replace the rear shocks with regular gas shocks instead of air shocks, and replace the fork springs with progressive springs so I don't have to use the air.
Here is my issue/question. I would like to lower the whole bike about an inch because I am only 5'6". The rear is easy because I can just get shorter rear shocks. The forks I need help with because they are air and have the air equalizer thing right below the bottom tree clamp. I need to know If I use progressive springs without air can I remove those? Another option is getting some forks from a model that did not use air.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Also If anyone has put a shorter throw throttle tube on let me know what to use. My VN750 is about 1/4 or 1/3 turn wide open, and my KZ1100 is like 1/2 turn. Way to long of a turn for me.

I don't know about the fork thing but I bought this to put on my GPz. I haven't had a chance to try it out but at the price.....

Is that the stock headlight and bucket?

Thanks, I might try that. As far as I can tell it is the original headlight assembly. I just looked up some pictures of a new one and it looks the same as far as I can tell. Why do you ask?

Mine came from China and they give you a 4 week delivery date but it showed up in about a week and a half. The quality is top notch and it's all aluminum. I still need to put it on. I'm changing my switches and everything so it's going on at the same time.

I was just wondering. The very first thing I did to my GPz was put a 750 Spectre headlight in it and yours just looks a little different from that angle.

Oh ok I got ya. This bike is all stock from what I can tell. Needs a bit of work but I like it. Eventually I want to completely restore it. Rebuild the engine, trans and everything else. Love this bike.
