can anyone recommend some forks/wheels / triples to use on the 1978? Ive heard 2000's era kawasaki z1000 forks may work? (I see sanctuary uses Ohlins forks on his bikes...wonder what bikes these come off?) . I doubt I could afford the swingarm and shocks sanctuary run on their bikes...can anyone recommend a swingarm? I've heard the aluminum models from early 1980s suzukis drop right in.

I'm also interested in finding out info on gussettig the frames - I recall seeing couple articles a while back......anyone have any links.

any and all input is appreciated.

I have an upsy dupsy front end from an early ZX9R. (All it took was a stem swap). A GSXR600 swingarm ( a couple of spacers on the pivot and shock mounts welded on) and a Bandit600 rear wheel with a 160 tyre ( Chain adjusters needed work and the sprocket carrier was turned down a few mm). I think thats it. I might have clearance worries with the Harris 4into1 and I have no idea how its going to handle as its not hit the road yet.Its all in the hands of allah!!

should have mentioend in above I'm going to completely restore this bike, and would like it to end up looking like the "sanctuary bikes", the builder does in Japan. I like the look of upside down forks i've seen on some streetfighter Kz900/1000, but on a bike I almost bought at mid ohio, the upside down forks he had on his kz1000, he had to weld some steering stops so the upper forks wouldnt hit the gas tank, and it reduced the turning radius....to the point where I did not like the way the bike turned, so I didnt buy it. thats my thoughts on staying with "traditional" forks.

Either way is good.I have no problem with the froks hitting the tank. I did weld a small extension strip on the stop on the steering head but that was easy enough and I have a good turn radius. I forgot to mention though that my bike is an 81 CSR model,so the frame must be different to yours. There are plenty of people on here that have done full conversions though.Just spend some time trawling through it and youll find what you need.
P.S. Im also a fan of the AC Sactuary stuff but its way beyond my budget ad my skills.

i believe the sanctuary guys use ohlins front ends designed for euro -spec yamaha fj1300's.

your gonna have to do some research.
but,rear wheel width, header you plan to use and wheel design are concerns.
any front end can be modded to fit any bike ,the fz1 05/06 or busa swingarms are nice to mod for the kz;s if you want more than a 180mm wide rear tire.
03/04 zx6/636 swingarms(not to mention many years of early gsxr) are nice to mod if you want a 180mm tire or smaller.
zx,gsxr,r1,r6 all have been used.

I'm using YZF600R cartridge forks, Yamaha monoblock calipers, a Zephyr 750 swingarm, ZRX1200 shocks, the stock KZ1000B4 front wheel and a KZ police rear wheel.
The forks are longer than stock, Race-Tech makes parts to tune both shocks and fork. I had to make axle and rotor spacers. There was a small amount of trimming done.to the swingarm pivot area. The YZF triple clamp will work. And the whole thing looks very stock.
