This might be very foolish, so please forgive the ignorance, but this is the first motorcycle I have owned with disk brakes, my first motorcycle had drums front and rear. While this bike has superior stopping power compared to the drums, they are however almost unless in the slightest bit of rain! Is this normal? My rotors are not cross drilled, just plain stock, my pads have ok life left, who knows how old though. Is there any solution to this? Better pads maybe? As always thanks alot, Nathan

If your pads are glazed they will perform poorly in the rain or otherwise. New sintered compounds are very good if your pads are old.

My bike has dual disk in front and a disk in the rear. They are not drilled. I use stock "Kawasaki" pads. I have ridden thousands of miles in the rain and never had problems at all stopping or slowing down. They work a million times better, wet or dry, than the front and rear drum brakes that my BSA had.

I suggest you replace the pads with stock Kawasaki pads. Also, inspect the rotors to be sure they are not damaged or very heavily scored. If they are badly scored they can be resurfaced, but be sure to have them done by a shop that specializes in resurfacing motorcycle rotors rather than have some kid at Auto Zone wreck them. Ask if you need a good resurfacer recommendation. Ed
