I stored these KZ900 fork damper rods a couple of years ago and just took them out the other day. I sent them off to Pro-Valve to get worked on. I'm actually planning to put them in my H2. I had read a service bulletin that said some H2 rods were replaced with KZ900 rods.

Anyways, can someone here familiar with KZ900 damper rods tell me if this looks right? Specifically, the spring and spacer? Nick at Pro Valve said it looks like they don't belong there. I don't remember - and looking at the parts fiche doesn't help me either.

I don't understand why they were sent to be "worked on." What work is there to do? It sounds like Nick is unfamiliar with KZ900 damper rods; I would ask him to just send them back before he"works" on them.

Here's the diagram. Ed

You are looking at a lowering spacer, it keeps the fork tube from returning to the stock length.
They are also called lowering blocks used to lower the front of the bike.

It does look like someone changed things. When I compare the photo to the Kawasaki.com diagram it looks like some bits and pieces are missing. Ed

To read about Pro Valve's work click here and go near the bottom of the page in the "chassis" section: www.klemmvintage.com/kaw500h1.htm

What they do is alter the valving, kind of like putting cartridge emulators but at a lower cost. They can work on any damper that's made of steel.

In that case they will very likely be altering or switching stuff, so I would think they would have what ever pieces are needed. Ed

Are there no KZ900 owners here who remember taking their forks apart?

I have some old-style damper rods...but at home. I'll take a peek at them when I get home and post later today.

Looked at the damper rods I have (they came with a set of forks that were either KZ1000A1 or KZ900A4...can't remember) but they are identical to what you have pictured...in all parts. Not sure how this helps you but there you go.

Mcdroid that does help some. I'll just reassemble "as is" and run 'em. I have a limited understanding of forks and just try to put things back the way I found them!
