I asked about these a while back too, i ended up getting some Koni's & Marzocchi's off eBay instead for pretty much the same or less money.

Good info about RFY's in THIS thread

I did a bunch of research on Ohlins shocks when looking at them for my GS (+$1000). I heard nothing but rave reviews on them. I have friends who run them and say its the best money they ever spent and would never go back. IMO there are a frew things not to skimp on, right after tires comes shocks.

MOTORRAD Classic tested several shock absorbers for an old Honda CB900. Winner was Ikon just ahead of Ohlins. 3rd was White Power over Wilbers with Bitubo the clear loser.

But it is with shocks as with oils and other heated topics; you get about as many opinions as people voicing in. Some are emotional, some subjective, some based upon different needs. For instance, a 400 lb rider with a 250 lb passenger will have different requirements than a 120 lb solo rider. Those with a sedate riding style with a hang for comfort have other demands than sport riders looking for maximum control and feedback. Etc. ad nauseum.

Still, a shock absorber that is consistent in performance over many thousand of miles is a good shock. It may not suit everybody, but it is good, well made. One that leaks or quickly change the way it behaves is bad, no matter what label it carries - even if it was perfect initially.
