Hi I came here because I ran out of options and this seems like the best place to ask. so long story short I bought this bike not to long ago off an older guy at work ... he attempted to put a Dyna s electronic ignition on the bike and had no idea how to hook it up and I'm guessing he ran into many problems because it looks like he hacked away at the wiring harness. the bike won't turn over, the starter doesn't make any noise when I push the start button and te brake light and blinkers dont work. I'm not too worried about the blinkers and brake light because I can wire those easy from experience on some cars... I've been trying to get this thing to turn over at all and I'm coming here for any tips. I followed this diagram .. thank you any help is appreciated.

Are you holding in the clutch lever when you try the starter button? Ed

Jump a wire from the positive of your battery to the positive contact on the solenoid coil. You should be able to feel or hear the solenoid move if that doesn't get your starter spinning so you can tell if it's the solenoid or starter that's at fault. Once you verify that's working you can trace the feed to the solenoid back towards the handlebar switch to see where and why you are not getting a "signal" to activate the solenoid.

As Ed says make sure you check the "idiot switch" on the clutch lever first, at least as much as make sure you pull the lever. Sometimes those switches stick and so when you pull the lever you can see it's not operating. It's easy to by pass that if it's a problem to at least get it going.

This diagram will never get the starter to turn. There is no path for power to the relay windings.
As is, that diagram has no direct connection from battery ground to regulator ground. That could damage the regulator. And since the regulator is grounded through the start relay, in that diagram, the starter could kick on while riding.

I'll try to clean it up.
