So, a few months ago $200 yielded me a KZ440 LTD. Needs new tires, but other than that the guy said it just needed a new starter to run.

Well, instead of purchasing a new starter I was told by my father that the one on there may actually still work, that I should remove it and 'clean it out' and see if she'll start after. Trouble is, I have no clue how to do that or how to begin to proceed.

Well, I'm completely new to this. I have no idea of what level a task like that would consist of. Anyone care to guide me and point me in the right direction? Weather pending, I'd like to give this a try this week and see if I can get the engine to turn over. If it appears to be too big of a task for me (Like I said, new to this) then I'll likely just order a new starter from eBay or something.

Go easy on me!

By "clean out" I assume he means to remove it and blast it with compressed air, clean the contacts and reinstall.

I mean, hey. It's worth a try since it's pretty much free.

This video might be useful.
