hit another wiring snag after removing the IC ignitor. is it required as i dont recall seeing it in the diagram. i was under the impression that the dyna ignition system replaced the ic ignitor entirely.

My understanding is yes, the IC igniter is replaced by the Dyna S ignition system.

There are different generations of Dyna electronic systems. The original Dyna had a two part system. The newest Dyna (Dyna S) has all the electronics integrated into the pickup units on the replacement timing disk.

I installed the Dyna S generation and my original OEM ignitions system was points driven so I never had the two part OEM Electronics (Igniter box and separate pickup units). So, I never had anything other than the points and timing disk to replace.

On the other hand, if your original OEM ignition system was the Kawasaki system and you are installing the same Dyna S as I am, then you will remove both parts (Ignitor box and separate pickup units). Then you install the single Dyna S disk, with all the electronics on it, under the Ignition cover on the right side of the engine.

IMHO, the Dyna S is a very clean and simplified solution. B)

Best of success. :)

the dyna s ignition plate replaces your stock ignition completly except of course for a rev limiter which you can get from dyna as well the one you would use is a drl-300 rev limiter. very easy to install as well.

welp, i suppose this should have been expected. all that was causing the problem was a short and some dirty connections. who'da thunk.

Massive pile! Does this mean I have to buy another part just to complete the Dyna S upgrade?!? I am already $300 deep on this order!

I could just not rev to the limit and leave this part off, right?
