I read somewhere on this site, that there is a product most local hardware stores, like Home Depot or Lowe's offers, that will clean the inside of the tank? I have searched all over for the mentioning of this item, and can't find it. I do know about the 3 step Kreem, but I have another tank I am using that is slightly dented, I'd like to give this other product a try.

Kleenstrip Etch and Prep (phosphoric acid) is what I use. $16 at Home Depot.

Some people use vinegar. It works, but slower.

Evaporust is great stuff. Sort of expensive. Great choice for a tank with good paint that you don't want to risk messing up.

I personally go for the HARD STUFF. It's Muriatic Acid for me.
Read all about it here:

You'll get it done in a quarter the time and do a better job to boot.

Muriatic acid is nasty sh*t. You need to neutralize it after rinsing too.

In industry, before painting, and to clean rusty metal, phosphoric acid is the stuff the pro's use. Buy a Por-15 or Kreem tank sealing kit and the derusting sauce they provide is phosphoric acid. Unlike HCl, it doesn't need to be neutralized. And a phosphate coating is left behind on the steel which helps protect the metal a little.

I use the POR15 kit. had it in my old tank for 5 years, no issues. It did not even crack on the inside when I dented the tank.
