As a lot of the members on this Forum have been a Real Help in putting this bike back together
It's a 77' KZ1000A I purchased as a non-runner about 2 years ago. Bike hadn't run since 1988. But perseverance and multiple repairs it's running again. Just recently replaced the rotor/clutch starter assembly.
So with a the mechanical adjustments I could make and verification of the electrical functioning as it should, the bike was ready for it's maiden voyage
Ran it about 20 miles with stop and go riding, shifting thru the gears nicely. I was surprised how close the carbs. are jetted with it's K&N dual air filter pods and Vance&Hines header but due to Help from the Forum as well
Here's what I'm seeing now, is that there is a little oil residue collecting in the rubber boots of the air filters where it connects to the carbs. and maybe a little oil residue in the intake throats of the carbs. too?
It seemed to be before I had the float height set correctly on the carbs., there appeared to be a little oil residue in the fuel at the overflow tubes at the bottom of the carbs. after I ran the bike in an idle mode in the garage for a while?
Any Ideas on what may be going on ? There doesn't appear to be be any blue smoke coming out the exhaust muffler when bike is running or revved up.
