I gave up searching for a cheaper petcock and pulled the trigger on a pingel.
My paint guy promised me the tank will be ready for pick up monday morning and the petcock should be here a day or two after.
Its my understanding that ill have to open the slot a little for the pickup tubes.
That shouldn't be a problem with a dermal or file . do you guys think i need a sealant for the adapter plate ?
They used to include a little pack of hylomar blue but not any more so whats the proper type?

I would use teflon tape on the threads.

Your post doesn't mention what bike this is for. I have a '76 KZ900 and it uses the screw in type with a large nut. No problem with fitment. As mentioned above, teflon tape is helpful to prevent leaks after installation.

If screw on I've never had one leak after cleaning the mating surfaces with or without tape.

If the type with the two bolts and the Pingel came with a new gasket just clean and deburr the mating surfaces. If it seeps a little after assembly then I'd use a High Temp RTV that is impervious to gas/oil. May want to do that anyway. Auto parts stores should have a good selection of permatex etc.

One tip. Since I rarely use RTV I buy the smallest tube I can find. For me it's a waste of money to buy the big tubes only to have 90% of the remaining RTV turn into a rock hard substance in the tube.
Don't fix it until it's broken.

If I'm right the adapter should have an o-ring if so no sealant needed.

the adapter came with a flat gasket .. i used teflon tape on the threads as per instructions and just a very fine coat of rvt on both sides of the gasket.. it turned out great.
