Using stock rebuilt VM26 carbs. on my 77' KZ1000A, I'm now looking into Header 4 Into 1 and will be running a K&N Dual Pod filter ( RC-2222 ) per 2 carburetors. Stock mains on the VM26's are 112 and the pilots 17.5. The Dyno-Jet offers only a Stage 3 jet kit for the KZ but has 136 and 140 mains and different adjustable needle but no pilot jets.

Seems awfully Big in the main jets with the Set-up I have ?

Any "Jet Set-up recommendations" you guys might have would be Greatly Appreciated :) :) :)

I realize there will be a lot of tuning, but to me starting off with that size of mains in the Dyno-Jet kit doesn't make sense?

Dynojet jets and Mikuni and Keihin sizes are not the same. You can search the web and there's a chart the shows Mikuni vs Dynojet jet sizes.

What streetfighter said, and the reason it does not include any pilot jets is the 17.5 you have already will work fine. The jet kit does not effect your idle circuit.

Doug, I'm not sure what your referencing, but the Dyno-Jet kit #2304 says that is for 77-80 KZ1000's some I'm assuming they are for Mikuni Carbs. ? I don't know if they are actually Mikuni or Keihin jets?

I'd rather by individual "larger" jets needed and just play with the stock needle if that can be done? Just trying to get a ball park figure what "Jets" you guys are using and have seen fairly good results.

Dynojet uses their own proprietary jets and needles. They do not use Mikuni or Keihin parts in their kits.

To be honest, you'd be better not using the Dynojet kit altogether. A good start is 2-4 sizes larger on the main (117.5,120, or 122.5) and shimming the needle and playing with the mixture screws a bit.

Doug, THANK YOU so much for providing the Jet Chart. Very Helpful ! And I agree, I'd rather invest in a few jets and play with the stock needle, rather than purchasing the Kit.

What about the Pilot Jet Size? It appears that the stock one is fine?

Seems to be the consensus to use either the stock Pilot or bump it up maybe a jet size or 2. And the Main Jet at 117.5 or 120. I guess there's really no exact combination to use but at least with all of your suggestions, it should get me fairly close?

Please keep the suggestions coming and again Thank You for all of your help !

Z1 Ent. sells the Jets, but there seems like the opinion is to use "Genuine"
Mikuni Jets? I don't know how there jets would compare but can't but think the same?

Do you Tuners do anything with the Needle Jet position? I'm assuming to raise it a little?

Air Mixture screw, Ball Park figure how many turns out? Probably start with 1 turn out and work from there?

I wish my Bike was a running bike when I purchased instead of a good candidate for salvage. But know It deserves to be running again. But with over 20 years of not running and probably a lot of abuse prior, it's going to be challenge to bring it back from the dead.
