TOPIC: Sync Question

Sync Question 11 months ago #531959

Just recently got my bike running on all cylinders. I noticed that I get different temps at each header. Cyl 1 was around 250; Cyl 2, 250; Cyl 3, 400; Cyl 4 350. It wasn't completely warmed up, just testing it out.

Could this arise from the carbs not being synched properly? After the last cleaning, I'm pretty sure the carbs are spitting plenty of mixture.

If your carbs are out of sync, all cylinders will not pull equally. Those that do the most work will also be the warmest. So if you have cleaned them and there are no air leaks, I would definitely suspect carbs out of sync. Just make sure that the spark plugs are good and valve clearances are within spec first as these things affect synching.

Still been too busy to remove the head and check the valve clearances. Also, my feeler gauges only go down to .06. I need a thinner set. I've got a huge list of maintenance items I still need to address. The bike hasn't been out of the garage in 8 years so it needs it all. I'm hoping the valves are in spec considering there's less than 10k on the motor, but I've had issues every step of the way. I'm sure I won't get off that easy!! Lol

Thanks everyone!
