I did read the article and it mostly concerned itself with octane boosters, NOT the differences between 87-89-91 octane pump gas.I have two Volvos, both equipped with the 5 cylinder Volvo engine, both with turbos. Volvo specifically requires 91 octane gas for both these cars and specifically warns the owners via the Manuals to avoid additives of any sort, octane boosters or anything else.Since these cars are good for 200,000 plus miles without breaking a sweat, I will follow their advice. As to my KZ,I have run it on 87-89-and 91 octane gas.It seems (by the seat of my pants) to run better on 91 octane without ethanol and so that is what I will put in it.Whether it needs it or not is immaterial at this point.I dont think 91 octane gas will hurt it in the least. If we, as a group, were racing the bikes,I am sure that such arcane issues as octane, burn rates, flame propagation, squish area of the combustion chamber, etc,etc would be of great and useable value.A long and lengthy discussion of an article regarding fuel additives seems to be a bit of a "ok so what" to me--or maybe Ive had one glass too many of some very fine Vouvray.bj
