So I have the motor out of the bike and trying to get the clutch basket off. I've wedged things, broken tools and now broke one of the little fins off the basket trying to get this bolt off.

From what I've read, there's the tool that holds the basket or can weld my own. Don't have a welder so thats out of the question. My concern is if I buy the tool, I still won't have enough leverage to pop it off. Using a breaker bar with a pipe on the end. Thing has not moved one bit.

Any ideas/thoughts? Thanks

Easiest answer is to use a pnuematic impact wrench. A good one will zip it off lickety split.

Otherwise welding a handle to a steel clutch plate should work for a tool; but you stated you dont have a welder

There is a factory tool, or you can make one as detailed in the Uk Hayne's Manual. As a teenager I made one and even case hardened it, in my youthful naivety.

Having done this a few times now, as above, don't lever it off, shake it off with an air tool. You are best off loosening this nut before removing the motor from the frame. Replace with a new one, the threads deform on tightening.

I bought a ebc tool off of ebay that's a clutch plate with a handle for around 17 bucks over this winter (feels HD)and picked up a electric impact wrench from Harbor freight for this exact job.

Your suppose to replace the front and rear thrust washers also along with the nut.

+ on the impact wrench. I tend to avoid buying tools that I won't use very often but the impact wrench makes life so much easier. You can remove clutch nuts, counter sprocket nuts and it will also spin out the bolt at the bottom of a fork leg when you're changing fork seals.

A new or used electric impact wrench can be found for less than $50 and it will save a lot of time and frustration.

I made one out of a old clutch plate, flat plate stock ant two 1/4" bolts. The impact is good to have and Lock Tight will work in in a hurry.

After years of using old clutch plates or fabbing up makeshift tools I finally broke down and bought a clutch tool off of eBay Tusk Tool
It works great and for less than $20 I can use it on all my motorcycles / dirt bikes.
Don't forget, You can use an impact to get the nut off but you still need to hold the basket while you torque the nut back on...

Yes , and they seem just as effective as an air powered one on this job,

Thank you all for the replies. I've been considering buying an impact gun but have been holding off since I'll be buying an air compressor closer to summer. I have a little 4 gallon one but it's not good for anything heavy duty or long periods.

I will break down and buy the tool. I feel like I'll be using it again anyways. I've notice a couple different model numbers from EBC, but look identical. Any insight on that one?

Looking on ebay I see a ebc for 17.88 shipped that works for a 82 750H ..... # CT019 .... and 26-8219 are in their listing.

On a side note, I borrowed a friends air impact gun and that didn't move the nut at all! Even heated it up some, still didn't budget. But the tank is so small, each time I tried, probably got about 45 seconds of use before the compressor was basically empty.
