Has anyone had any luck finding a fork brace for a 83 KZ550 A4. I know it is 36mm but there are so many out there for all of the other 550's but I did not find one for the A4. Thanks, Brendan

This site had everything else for the other 550's

Are those any good? It looks like they are made out of recycled plastic. (I doubt they are recycled, but it's what they look like.)

All of the ones I have are aluminum.
If you want to take some measurements, I could compare them with the GPZ fork braces.
I have several different ones. You want one that allows for a little adjustment in overall length. It looks like those, in your link, will have that.

Measurements you'll probably need are:
Overall center-to-center spacing of the fork tubes. (Just measure the distance from outside to outside and inside to inside and take the average.)

Then, you'll probably need the OD of the clamping area. Some braces clamp over the rubber boot, and some clamp the fork leg and you put the boot on the brace.

The UK Micron (vintage parts now) and Tarozzi have adjustable spans. Most brace part numbers have several applications.

The original mudguards have a fork brace built in, when using a plastic replacement a fork brace has it's uses. All my bikes have fork braces.

But on a stock setup with steel fenders, do they really improve handling?

The stock steel fender, mudguard, as Tyrell called it, has a brace built in. It's just a stamped steel part with holes in it to lighten it. I think most Kz's have that. I have aftermarket plastic fenders on two bikes, but I added aftermarket braces similar to the ones shown in the link, but made of aluminum. I also have one bike with the original steel fender and brace. After years of riding them I get a sense that the brace, by itself, is actually a tiny bit stiffer than the original steel fender and brace by itself, but it could be other factors, or my imagination.

I've also ridden with no fender or brace for a few days. I did not like that at all.
