Hi all.
Got a bike here with an unknown (to me, at least ) exhaust on it.
Picked up the bike as a non runner in a shed, got her sorted for now and it starts and runs, but the exhaust is a real POS
Im changing it out, and just want to make sure I avoid this make/brand of system in the future.
Could it be a MAC ? Never seen one but heard of them. Looks like its made out of recycled bean cans and ring pulls.
Been out of the game for over 30 years and theres a whole lot of stuff I don't know .
Any help thoughts would be appreciated.

This is the wifeys new ride and she doesn't know anything about it yet, hoping to have it road worthy before mid August when she gets back from work.
Its a 77/78 KZ1000 with GPz wheels and forks, and it was wearing Z1 tank and body work when I got it. The tabs for the side panels had been cut off and repositioned to mount the Z1 panels...NASTY. Fixed all that and she wearing the proper clothes now.

Anyway if anybody knows what sort of pipe that is I would like to know too.
Probably posted in the wrong forum as well.

Gonna go outside curse and kick something...this took me ages !!!

I'd put the calipers behind the forks. I don't think the exhaust looks bad.

Agree I believe the fork legs are on the wrong sides. Notice the fork oil drain screws in the photo are toward the front of the fork legs instead of the rear where they belong. Whoever put the forks together did not pay any attention to what they were doing. :S I would check out EVERYTHING on that bike in case other things are messed up. Ed

Roger that.
The chain is made up from 530 and 630 held together with split links.
This puppy is going straight to the shed.
I wouldn't ride a back that I had not stripped and checked, certainly would not let the wife touch this as is.
All the brake lines are mix and match , one pod was held on with duct tape.
The master cylinders front and rear need stripping, calipers f/r need rebuild.
The forks sound as tho they are full of pond water and frogs.
Still don't like the exhaust, but for now its tear down time.
Too many hands have played with this.
Amazingly, the wiring harness is intact and unhacked :))
But the motor is good and everything else is small stuff.
Its going to be fun
Thanks for the input.

Here's what I see regarding the fork oil drain screws. The first 2 images show the poster's forks; the last image shows correctly oriented KZ650-C1 forks. The caliper bosses and the drain screws both are rearward when oriented correctly. Ed
