Hi All,
I have a 1984 KZ440 ltd and suspect that the mufflers are badly carboned up. Does anyone know if it is possible to remove the baffles for cleaning? From what I can see it looks like the baffle end plates are fastened on with rivets. Any insight that any of you good folks could offer would be greatly appreciated.
All the best, Jeff

Are the mufflers welded on or clamped in place? just wondering if they're stock or not.

Those are steel pop rivets. You might be opening a can of worms drilling them out.

Well, I just had to know, so I drilled out the rivets--they only hold on a face plate--the baffle end plate is welded to the muffler's outer shell. These baffles are definitely not meant to be removed. :S
