I ran our of gas on a trip the other day, and realized that I still had some fuel left in the right side of the tank, so I was able to drive the remaining 5 miles to my destination to fuel up. The problem is when I fueled up, I discovered I had almost 2 gallons of fuel in the tank and I had run out with still a third of my fuel capacity remaining. Left side was completely dry and still had 1.8 gallons in the right side. Why do you think that might be, or is it normal?

Hmm, well then, there is a mystery to be solved. Are there any passages between the 2 halves that could be clogged?

The way the tank sits, the fuel is free to flow to the other side. Something wrong with your reserve?

The petcock on this tank doesn't have the copper reserve tube on it, so it doesn't matter if I'm on run or reserve, they should both drain tank, correct?

The petcock has a run tube and no reserve tube.

Two different types. If your tank isn't level, it can trap gas on one side.

Oh, I thought mine was missing, how does the reserve/run settings work on this type of petcock then, I'm curious?, does it sense volume by fuel weight or something?

The long tube gets gas until it drops below it then you switch to reserve and use what's left.

There is a hose between 2 fuel tank halves. Ops, which bike do you have? Is it a Harley?

You know better than that. You just sold your KZ's and said you wouldn't be back until you have another one.
